What an incredible adventure!
It almost feels surreal, but I am beyond proud to be able to say that I was able to complete the Maclehose Trail in just under 24hrs. No sleep, lots of sweat, some tears and almost 5000m of elevation gain later, the hard work from the past months has definitely paid off.
This has been a roller coaster of ups and downs, where the hardest part was being confronted with my mums passing much more than ever before. The confrontation was tough, but also showed me a beautiful side to grieving. What made this adventure even more special and meaningful, was that a lot of people shared memories and stories of my mum with me, allowing me to feel closer to her.
I could not have done this without the support I received from my family and friends, so a massive thank you to those who were with me every step of the way.
Thank you to everyone else who supported this journey! It means a lot to me and I hugely appreciated all the kind words!
October is #breastcancerawarenessmonth and besides the physical part of this project, I wanted to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. I wasn’t sure what a realistic fundraising goal would be, but I set the target at 10 000 euros, and can now proudly say that this goal was reached and surpassed - an update will follow.
It feels amazing to be rounding off this years #breastcancerawarenessmonth with achieved goals and who know’s what’s in store next!
